1911

Governor Sir Frederick Lugard (wearing a hat in the middle of the front row) officiated at the opening ceremony of Kwong Wah Hospital on 9 October 1911. Left-hand side of the Hospital's main hall is a conference room and an accounts office, while right-hand side is a registration room and a storage space for western medicine.
1919

A floor is added to the main building of Kwong Wah Hospital. Left chamber is a maternity room and right chamber is a staff barrack. At the back of the lobby, there are stairs at each end and leading to the upper floor. The picture shows a floor plan of the Hospital in 1911.
1933

Right chamber on the second floor is converted into a laboratory. The picture shows the Kwong Wah Hospital in the 1930s.
1947

Restoration works on the main building are carried out. The chambers on the first floor are converted into new nurses' quarters. The picture shows the memorial stone recorded the works in 1947.
1952

Nurses' quarters of Kwong Wah Hospital are established and therefore the original nurses' quarters on the first floor of main building is closed. Nurses training becomes standardised and centralised. The picture shows the nurses' quarters of Kwong Wah Hospital in 1957.
1958

The 7-year redevelopment project of Kwong Wah Hospital begins. The picture shows the new building of Kwong Wah Hospital in 1965.
1961

The Board of directors considers that the main building of Kwong Wah Hospital is a historical building, and it should be preserved. The picture shows that children who are inpatient of nursing home of Kwong Wah Hospital welcome the arrival of Lady Robert Black at the main hall in 1962.
1970

To celebrate the centenary of TWGHs, the former main building of Kwong Wah Hospital is converted into Tung Wah Museum to facilitate the systematic collection, preservation, restoration and exhibition of records and artefacts relating to Tung Wah.
1971

Then Senior Chinese Unofficial Member of the Executive Council, Sir Kwan Cho Yiu officiated at the opening ceremony of the Tung Wah Museum on 15 January 1971.
1982

The restoration work of Tung Wah Museum aims to preserve the solemn, quaint and original appearance of the Museum. The re-opening ceremony is held on 13 December 1984.
1990

Repair works for the roof of Tung Wah Museum comprises the replacing the roof ridge and full replacement of roof tiles.
1992

The Museum is classified a Grade I historic building.
1993

The Museum formally opens to the general public.
2000

A permanent exhibition on the 130 Years of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals is organised.
2010

The Museum is declared a monument.
2010

A newspaper named New York Evening Journal dated 1908 is discovered at the ground floor corridor. The Conservation Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department timely provides advice on the conservation of the newspaper.
2013

Two exhibition rooms on the ground floor are refurbished. "Performing good deeds with others – the philanthropic vision of the TWGHs" permanent exhibition is organised.
2013

"SARS in Kwong Wah" thematic exhibition is launched.
2016

The Antiquities and Monuments Office carries out renovation works to the Museum.
2016

Due to the Redevelopment Project of Kwong Wah Hospital, Tung Wah Museum will be temporarily closed. A series of activities are carried out to farewell the Museum.
2016

The Redevelopment Project of Kwong Wah Hospital starts. To ensure the safety of the archives and relics, all of them included the plaques and couplets which stored in the Museum are removed.
2023

The 1st Phase of Redevelopment Project of Kwong Wah Hospital completed. Public could re-seen the Museum from the Waterloo Road.
