Subject talks on "Tales of the Distant Past: Global Charitable Network" organised by Tung Wah Museum, in association with Hong Kong Museum of History

August 13, 2022

Hong Kong was once a global business hub in the mid-19th century due to its unique geographic location and relatively stable economy. Taking the advantages, Tung Wah Hospital and charitable organisations founded by Chinese around the world worked together and a global charitable network was developed with Hong Kong as the focal point. The talk series, comprising three sessions, was held from June to August. Presenting themes on Chinese migration, Yulan Festival mass ritual and services of Tung Wah Coffin Home, the talks illustrated the development of the global charitable network and its significance to Hong Kong and the rest of the world.
